Installed LL 5.0 on a really old laptop today that hasn't been used for something like two years. It's the first time any distro in my experience has ever automatically detected and used the wifi hardware in that machine (Dell Latitude). I'm delighted to see the progress this distro is making!

I have a danish keyboard but for some stupid reason my ThinkPad T520 does not have the <>\ key (between Z and shift), so in order to write < and > I have added US keyboard layout, which I then change to whenever I need those characters. But after adding it, it always starts up with US keyboard layout on boot, instead of Danish. How do I make Danish default?

This is not a specific Linux Lite problem since it's the same on all distros. I am using my laptop with a docking station, and need the sound to go to HDMI 3, but it always defaults to HDMI 2 when starting up/redocking. I need to change it every time in the Pulseaudio volume control.
Is there a way to make it use HDMI 3 instead of 2? Perhaps remove HDMI 2 alltogether? Always forcing HDMI 3 is not an option since it needs to correctly revert back to internal speakers when undocked.

I searched, can't find an answer. With older linux generations, I used to be able to just plug in ipod (older nano), it would be recognized by file manager and accessible via banshee or rhythmbox where I could upload or download/sync files.
Now, nada. I tried installing both banshee and ryhthmbox on the off chance that perhaps they were needed or had a needed driver packaged. Still nothing.
Is LL missing a driver or file reference to identify this device?

So I was trying to install linux lite, and I succeeded in doing so. But I must've done something wrong because whenever I boot normally, I get a screen that has 4 options: Ubuntu, Advanced options for Ubuntu, Memory test (memtest86+), and Memory test (memtest86+, serial console 115200). No matter what option I choose, the computer restarts and I get the same screen again. I have tried many settings, but to no avail. I am running a Dell DM051 Bios Revison A02. The last time I did the memory test, I ended up getting 68000000+ errors. I can't do a clean install due to the fact that the computer I'm writing this with right now is the only one that connects to the internet. It runs chromeOS and therefore can't create bootable iso's, and I can't turn the Linux settings on. I can only do the basic BASH commands, so I can't do something like fdisk, mount, etc, etc. Also, for some reason, /vmlinuz doesn't exist. Running the 'ls' command, I get (hd0), (hd0,msdos5), (hd0,msdos1), and fd0.

I have 1tb external HDD with exfat format . exfat using because I have windows 10 & macos laptop.
this format best way to communicate with all OS. But when I copy more that 100gb file
movie, document, picture folders on LL5 , my touchpad mouse complete hang , I'm not able to open
any single window until finish copying. that's problem I never face with windows and macos. so I
search google . find some solution in ubuntu site . add few lines like this in /etc/sysctl.conf
vm.swappiness=10
vm.dirty_background_ratio=1
vm.dirty_ratio=2
restart computer and again I try to copy 60gb+ file to LL 5, same problem again. but when I put back
all file to my external HDD , touchpad works well , I can work side by side with copying.
I think maybe exfat file system problem . If I completely make ext4 file system to my external HDD
do it make same problem when coping ? If anyone know, please give me guide . why large file copy problem ?

Hiya Folks,
I don't know if any of you folk have used the editor Micro. Tried it today and have say what a nice little editor.
It is downloaded via SNAP.
It has some great features, like ctrl s for save and the old ctrl c and ctrl v works a treat for copy and paste.
And when you make an error, and haven't we all when we accidentally deleted a line in nano and poof gone. In micro
you are able to ctrl z and ctrl y, just love those.
It also allows you to use the mouse proper in the editor.
It has a lovely colour scheme selection as well.
If you have not tried it, give it a go.
I am really liking it at the moment.
regards
H
