Unable to find or create trash directory
Posted by: T1125P - 07-17-2014, 11:56 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (7)

I keep getting this error now in v1.0.6 I'm trying to delete files off my USB stick, it's formatted with the exFAT file system. If I hold down SHIFT+DEL the error comes up but the file is gone. Is there a way to fix this?
Another thing, how to disable automount, I don't want to have my USB stick or eternal harddrive opening the contents as soon as it's plugged in.

Thanks.

  Linux Lite
Posted by: T1125P - 07-17-2014, 09:20 PM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (1)

Hey, all.  Just want to give an update to my Linux experience so far. After trying Linux Lite 1.0.6, 1.0.8, 2.0, then Peppermint OS 5, Linux Mint 17 XFCE, & Puppy Linux, I have found my perfect OS for my Netbook. Linux Lite 1.0.6 - This version by far is the best for my Netbook. Everything about it is faster and the menu opens so fast and fluid. 2.0 was very good, but did not suit my Netbook. Love the OS, but 1.0.6 is best for me. It even boots 1-2 secs faster than my Win 7 PC with a 500GB ssd Big Grin. Thanks to all for making a fantastic version of Linux. I just wish in the future all game developers would make their PC games for Linux and Windows at the same time. I'm a gamer so I use my Win 7 PC. If they would just make all the Win 7 games available for Linux without Wine I would change to Linux for my main PC in an instant.

  Why Ubuntu base?

Sure there is a good reason but just wondering why Linux Lite is based on Ubuntu rather than directly on Debian?

  Flash Video Problem
Posted by: Colin23erk - 07-17-2014, 12:00 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (16)

Just as I thought I had got my Lite 2 sorted I found a new hiccup !

I use Google Chrome Browser and it plays You Tube Flash Videos normally .

If I try to watch BBC News videos -- Sound is normal but the video  only shows occasional good still frames .
The BBC Flash Video Player looks  a bit  different to the You Tube one

  Autologin bug LightDM
Posted by: valtam - 07-17-2014, 08:49 AM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (3)

I've discovered a bug in lightdm after a fresh install of Linux Lite. The current script for enabling and disabling autologin uses the following path:

Code:
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf

to make the changes. It now seems the info is read from:

Code:
/usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/40-lightdm-webkit-greeter.conf

I've updated the scripts accordingly. Please run Install Updates now to fix this.

CAUTION: If your enable/disable autologin is working, do not mess with this!!! I have found that changing this path on an existing installation breaks the login rendering you unable to get to your desktop. Just run Install Updates, that is all.

I cannot install Google Chrome or Wine at all, when i try it says it just failed to install. Can someone please help me. Also how do you change the login and loading picture. another question I have is; do you need an anti-virus for Linux Lite, and if you do which one?  ;D

I have just discovered Linux Lite and I just say that I LOVE it!!! It is truly fast and elegant. I have the habit of logging off and on multiple times a day. On other distros my lgoon was the default and all I had to do was enter my password. Would someone be able to tell me how to configure Linux Lite to not have to click on my name every time I want to login? I like to just sit down, enter my password, and hit enter. By the time I've done all that the monitor has woken up. It would be nice not to have to use the mouse to logon. Thanks for any help. And, before I go, Kudos to the developers for a tremendous job!

  Display Settings
Posted by: Colin23erk - 07-16-2014, 10:06 AM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (3)

The "All Settings " window is a step in the right direction but I feel the DISPLAY settings could be improved and simplified for the occasional user to understand and is pointed in the right direction

Could  all the settings  needed to control what happens on the screen  be brought under one  common integrated  "Display "  Settings option  so there is no need to search in Power setting  (not an obvious place) / Screensaver settings / Desktop settings / Display settings . for settings which may conflict with each other . A screen brightness control could also be added .
