Posted by: taratree - 03-24-2015, 12:56 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (7)

I noticed problem with linux lite i.e firefox cannot connect to internet, gray screen, cannot install/remove program

I decided to reinstall the OS but instead of replacing the old linux it created new one. Basically now I have 3 OS my original window, faulty linux and new linux.

Is there any way I can remove the old faulty linux?

[SOLVED] Linux Lite 2.2 updates going to gaming site
Posted by: william_st_ia - 03-23-2015, 08:14 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (6)

Hi All,
Has any one else had problems trying to do updates after installing Linux Lite 2.2?
Every time I try to run an update either through Menu->Favorites->Install updates or open a terminal window and do a sudo apt-get update it points to the site http://repo.steampowered.com.
Why would updates for the Linux OS be coming from a gaming site?

Suggestion: Linux Lite User Counter on forum
Posted by: avj - 03-23-2015, 06:14 PM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (9)

I think it would be nice to know how many people are actually using Linux Lite. So I thought I would suggest a LL user counter on the forum to keep track of the number of users, or the number of computers it is used on. Just a thought, it would help developers see how far the distro has reached in my opinion.  Smile

  [SOLVED] Login Sound
Posted by: bugfree - 03-23-2015, 05:50 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (20)

How does one change the login startupsound.wav to something else.

I opened the boot folder (as administrator), copied another wav file to the folder and pointer the login path to this file in system settings. Now there is no login sound at all. Renamed the original startupsound.wav file to startupsoundold.wav and my new one to startupsound.wav. Still no go! Just pointing to a new wav file does not seem to work.

Anyone know how I can get my original startupsound back or indeed change to something of my choosing.

Thanks

  Update Notification with Synaptic
Posted by: LL-user - 03-20-2015, 04:27 AM - Forum: Installing Software - No Replies

Hi,

Am referring to UNLIMITY's question and misko_2083's reply in regard to update notification in this post:
https://dfgkh547-jsdfv8.iyhkj.tk/forums/off-t.../#msg13041

Does anyone know whether Synaptic's update notification (-> Settings -> Repositories -> Updates) is actually working respectively why not? It would at least cover security updates. Also don't know why "When there are other updates" options are deactivated.

Wouldn't that feature mainly cover what UNLIMITY has been asking for? For a good reason Smile

  Installing Silverlite or Mono
Posted by: Hardcoretexan - 03-20-2015, 04:02 AM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (9)

Very new to Linux so please bare with me. I need to use silverlite for some of my online programs that I use for Real Estate but I am getting no where. I tried following several installation guides but none worked.
