Not sure why. I've installed other distros succesfully.
I get the grub menu, and have tried all options. All just end up eventually hanging with black screen....
I also tried enabling EUFI boot to see if any different, but no.
Virtualbox Version 6.1.34. I imagine this post isn't very useful, I came here looking for info expecting to not be the first with this problem....

| Overwriting LL5.8 with 6.0 dual boot |

Hi
I have a dual boot LL5.8 and win 10. Tutorials seem to be aimed at setting up new partitions ready for new installation. Not sure how to write LL6 to existing LL5.8 partition; overwrite, delete existing partition or just install as per existing instructions? If so, do I still use the 'Something Else' option on the menu as before? Many tnx.

Hello folks, I'm new here and had encountered a bug when installing the latest version of Linux lite.
It happens only when I tried to install Lite 6.0 when hitting the "Install linux lite" via the greeter, it doesn't do it with the standalone installer.
Basically, the installer hangs and does nothing.
It works when I hit the installer icon on Linux Lites live desktop, but it seems to bug out when I do it via the greeter.
It's not a dealbreaker, but it did trip me up.
I am using a live USB, MD5 checks out and I used the MX linux USB creation tool.
I mean the bug could be because of the latter, I usually use etcher or unetbootin but had MX linux installed on this machine so used its in built USB creation tool.
I was just curious on how well linux lite would perform on my old gal of a laptop compared to MX linux 21 XFCE, here are its base specs if you are interested:
Computer model: HP ProBook 6470b
CPU: Intel Core i5-3230M @ 4x 3.2GHz (dual core with hyper threading)
GPU: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 4000
RAM: 8 GB
Kernel: 5.15.0-33-generic
Hard Drive: Western Digital 1TB HDD + Kingston 250 SSD(I have a caddy that converted a DVD drive into a hard drive bay)
So yeah she's a circa 2013 lappy that I put linux on, shes doing pretty good for her age.
Edit: typo

Hi,
I downloaded and installed Linux Lite 5.8 some days ago and I encountered this problem for the first time. It strangely disappeared and I didn't investigate why, or really pay attention to when it disappeared (I believe it made it alone, without the need to run dd again...) But I saw that the 6.0 was about to release, so I decided to wait today to make a fresh install (with a larger memory stick).
Now I have this issue, again. I ran the dd command several times. The files involved are always ./md5sum.txt and ./boot/grub/i386-pc/eltorito.img but sometimes I also get an error with ./EFI/boot/bootx64.efi and ./casper/filesystem.squashfs, and it changes sometimes without even running dd again.
Thinking my USB stick may be corrupted, I tried another storage device (SD card). But again, I got errors on ./md5sum.txt and ./boot/grub/i386-pc/eltorito.img. It is still possible that all three storage devices are corrupted (they are old), but this is odd.
Does anyone have that too? Is it okay to proceed to installation?
(Also, how in the hell has the sum of md5sum.txt been computed?)

Hi All, Thanks again for this distro.
I have been using 6.0 RC1 for a while on a second HD and have just attempted an install of Final to my first HD but the install failed and I cannot access my original RC1 as the grub boot has been overwritten.
Can anyone help me restore grub config so I can access my second HD ?
Also does any one know what I should do about the error I got when trying to install Final.
I burned the USB flash drive using the dd command as shown on the LL install webpage.

Hi All, Congratulations and a big thank you to all those involved with the Final Release.
I have been using 6.0 RC1 for some time and I know there is not an upgrade path to Final.
Could someone please tell me what is the best way to migrate my apps and config to a new install on a second drive in the same machine ?
Many thanks in advance,
oz.
