  [SOLVED] Yahoo Mail
Posted by: pelouk - 12-04-2014, 08:08 PM - Forum: Network - Replies (5)

Is anyone else having problems getting access to a yahoo mail account. I've been getting an "Error 14" message every time I try to sign in to my account at yahoo.co.uk.  Their help page seems to indicate that they only support Windows or Mac operating systems.

Anyone shed a light on this?

  [SOLVED] Trouble with new USB
Posted by: Alex - 12-04-2014, 03:55 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (23)

I recently bought a new USB stick and in an effort to password protect it (unsuccessfully) I did something nasty to it which results in the following message when i try to mount it (metaphorically):

No idea what it means, except for the fact that the new USB appears to be unusable now.

Anyone help?

Sad

Thanks

will firefox 34 eventually be in the repository? [probably yes for LL 2.2/32]
Posted by: shengchieh - 12-04-2014, 04:02 AM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (2)

I noticed LL 2.2 has FF 33.  Will eventually it be possible to upgrade to FF 34?  I.e., will FF 34 eventually be in the repository?  I know I can add FF 34 the "geeky" way, but
I need to decide whether to wait or do the work.  Plus, I am still using LL 2.0 - I have to decide on whether to upgrade (and do extra work) or not.

The reason I ask is because FF 34 (and not FF 33) has "Hello" which is  FF built-in video chat.

are pretty dam good to the Windows ,I just installed monodevelop was surprised the

  [SOLVED] Widescreen monitor?
Posted by: ChrisL - 12-04-2014, 01:07 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (4)

I have been looking at better monitors a bit and a lot of them are the widescreen variety which looks nice, but the fine print says something about "if the system supports widescreen".  I am a little confused about what in the system needs to be supporting use of a widescreen.  Is it the OS, or the video card, or??

I am running LL 2.0 with a Core2Duo 3.0ghz and an NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT video card.  What would be the limitation?  How would I know if I can use widescreen?

  Blank screen issue
Posted by: Miostellar - 12-03-2014, 09:55 PM - Forum: Video Cards - Replies (6)

I'm sorry for another boring Blank Screen problem but I have spent the past few days searching previous posts, tried many of the suggestions but I am now pulling the last few strands of hair from my head.

I installed LL 2.0 on two other units without any problems but the Acer Aspire 5736Z with Intel GMA 4500M just won't play ball. I have now installed LL 2.2 as the only OS on the 3.2gb HDD. Holding the shift key brings up menu and "e" on recovery mode allows full use of system but, although updates were installed there are no updated drivers of any kind to replace existing drivers.

I have tried all the suggestions here and elsewhere on the internet  - changed "set params ...... description.... Linux ...ro recovery " to nomodeset=0, modeset=gm4500, modeset=i4500 etc.etc..

Can't find anyone else on the forum with Acer 5736 or GMA4500 and this system does not show up on the hardware list but I have tried the solutions suggested for many of the other similar systems.

The only other problem is the Webcam that I can not find on the system on this Acer nor on an Acer Aspire One Netbook which I would also like to get working but have not spent too much time on it so far as I need to get the basic system booting correctly first.

I would be very much like to try any suggestions that you may offer and thank any of you who may offer your assistance.
