[SOLVED] Login Configurations

Hello! I'm trying to expand my knowledge on Linux-like operating systems, and coming from a Windows background, I thought Linux Lite would be a good place to try. So far I'm pretty impressed with just how lightweight it is. I do have some questions regarding as to how to configure it, though.
I'm using version 1.0.6, (mainly because I like the style, and for the compiz-fusion-addon compatibility. Gotta have my eye candy 8)).
How can I configure the login and boot screens? Such as changing what wallpapers are used, where the images for them are located, and how to change them? I know how to change my userface, but nothing else. I also know how to change the desktop settings, but configuring the login page seems a lot less straightforward. I'm aware of the /usr/shared/xfce4/backdrop directory, but that seems to contain only the desktop background images, not the login or boot screen images.

Using LinuxLite to repair Win 7 password

Is there an easy way to use LinuxLite to repair Win 7 password without using a CD or USB .
A third party has locked me out of Win 7 which is dual booted with LinuxLite . I have tried several Bootable repair Disks which have either failed to boot properly or require Input details which I am not able to supply .
I have used Synaptic to install chntpw
From How To Geek i have tried to follow their method

Using chntpw to reset your passwordBefore running chntpw, you will have to mount the hard drive that contains your Windows installation. In most cases, Ubuntu 9.10 makes this simple.
Click on Places at the top-left of the screen. If your Windows drive is easily identifiable – usually by its size – then left click on it.

If it is not obvious, then click on Computer and check out each hard drive until you find the correct one.

The correct hard drive will have the WINDOWS folder in it. When you find it, make a note of the drive’s label that appears in the menu bar of the file browser.

If you don’t already have one open, start a terminal window by going to Applications > Accessories > Terminal.

In the terminal window, enter the commandscd /media
lspressing enter after each line. You should see one or more strings of text appear; one of those strings should correspond with the string that appeared in the title bar of the file browser earlier.
Change to that directory by entering the commandcd <hard drive label>Since the hard drive label will be very annoying to type in, you can use a shortcut by typing in the first few letters or numbers of the drive label (capitalization matters) and pressing the Tab key. It will automatically complete the rest of the string (if those first few letters or numbers are unique).

You will see some text appear, including a list of all of the users on your system.

Wine does not work in New Install

I recently installed Linux Lite 2.6 on my son's computer that ran L.L. 1.6 before. I installed Wine and PlayonLinux using 'Lite Software' utility, and then copied the '.wine' and '.PlayonLinux' folders from the backup to his new home folder. I couldn't find any other configuration folders for Wine in '.config' or '.local/share', so I assumed all his games he used before would be available. But Wine will not run. If I right-click on any '.exe' file, it shows Open with Wine, but the mouse pointer/wheel spins for about 20 seconds and then stops and nothing happens.
In the Whisker menu it shows Wine, Winetricks and PlayonLinux, but nothing will launch.
So I just uninstalled Wine and PlayonLinux using Lite Software, then ran 'sudo apt-get autoremove' which got rid of some other Wine-related stuff.
Can anyone tell me what I should do now to get Wine installed and working? Should I install it again using Synaptic? Should I remove the previous configuration files I copied from the backup?
Wine is confusing the heck out of me, especially since it worked fine before with L.L. 1.6!
(I'm using the 32 bit version of Linux Lite).

I'm on a HP Pavillion notebook with having just replaced Windows Vista. I could use my wireless card no problem but with Linux it is not being detected. I think maybe it's the proprietary driver.
The card is a AR242x / AR542x Wireless Network Adapter um Qualcomm I think. If anyone knows how i can get it working I would be most grateful.
I had no problems with my dell laptop and L.L. but this HP *shakes head*

alright, I really want to stick with linux lite. I think the last time I ran it was 2.0 Now i'm back and trying to stop distro hopping around. I'd like to get involved with the community here as well as contribute. My primary job for 10 years was supporting Windows work stations but I have always been an advocate of open source and used Linux at home for all of our machines. I don't like coming home and having to do my job by troubleshooting, updating, fixing windows machines. Right now I am seeking employment and am hoping to find something that at least for part of my duties can get me away from windows. My dream career would be to work with linux full time.
Anywho, Hello! I'm running linux lite 2.6 on a X230 Thinkpad. Haven't had time to tweak it yet. Been installed for about 15 minutes replacing Xubuntu.

You read right.
Linux Lite has been banned from sale on the popular NZ website http://www.trademe.co.nz (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trade_Me)
Full correspondence to date:
TradeMe - October 10 2015 6:49 PM (Arthur is an alias)
Dear Arthur, I'm getting in touch with you today about your recent listing(s) on Trade Me:
Linux Lite 2.6 Operating System Live DVD (#960706310)
Linux Lite 2.6 Operating System Live USB (#960121297)
You may not be aware, but we have some pretty specific rules around the sale of digital media. This covers digital media such as photos, software programs, audio files including music, or digital videos.
We don't allow any digital storage device (like hard drives, flash drives, CDs or DVDs) containing digital media if the digital media on the device would not otherwise be allowed to be listed on Trade Me.
Some examples that we wouldn't allow are a gaming console with saved games or an MP3 player with saved songs.
Given this I've had to remove your listing(s) from the site, don't worry I've refunded the fees.
If you were selling a device with saved software or music content, please feel free to delete the content and relist the device on the site.
Please review our banned and restricted list for more information about what can and cannot be sold on Trade Me:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/help/331/banned...cted-items
Please don't list items of this nature on Trade Me again. We appreciate your cooperation with this request.
Please reply if you'd like to discuss this further. Alternatively, you can call Trade Me on 0900 TRADE (0900 87233). Please be aware, calls cost $1.99 + GST per minute.
Regards,
Michael

Could you please tell me what specifically has been banned on the media? I fail to see how a free Linux distribution violates your terms.
Yours sincerely,
Jerry Bezencon

Hi Jerry,
Thanks for getting back to us.
The issue is not to do with the media itself, but the way that it is being sold. We don't allow people to list USBs and discs with copied software on them.
This is due to the laws in NZ around digital media, so we can't bend the rules in any case.
I'm sorry that we weren't able to help you sell these.
Please let me know if you need a hand with anything else and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. If you’d like to chat we are available 24/7 on 0900 TRADE (0900 872 33). Please note calls cost $1.99 + GST per minute, but you’re welcome to flick me an email at any time.
All the best.
Regards,
Alison

What software is specifically copied? Do you understand the concept of free software?
Are all these listings to be banned as well? They are all linux based operating systems with free software.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/softw...868161.htm
On their page - http://www.trademe.co.nz/help/331/banned...cted-items they state:
Digital content
You may not list any of the following unless one of the exceptions below applies:
Digital content (such as photos, software, audio files including music, and digital video files).
Exceptions: Provided the item or content is classified in accordance with the FVPC Act or does not require classification, you may list:
Digital content (like games and other software) on original discs.
I've yet to hear back from them. Suffice to say this looks fairly clear cut that I'm within my rights under their terms to sell software on original discs.
I'll keep you all updated on developments.

So much ignorance and hate?

What's wrong with all those Windows users saying GNU/Linux is only good for web browsing?
Every time I enter some operating system article's discussion, and someone says something good about GNU/Linux, Windows users downvote him to hell, and say garbage like "Linux is good only for web browsing, and it has many security holes, look at Google's Android which is Linux too! So many security holes! Windows blah blah blah".
Seriously... Comparing Android to systems like Ubuntu, Fedora, Mageia, Arch, Linux Lite? So much ignorance.
English / worldwide websites are better towards GNU/Linux. But people in my Europe country are like Windows brainwashed. If 1 individual say something good about it, he will instantly get downvoted rapidly.
I'm using GNU/Linux since February only, but I feel free, I can do anything to my system, and on it. If I want to use some Win software, I can use Wine. And it's not the GNU/Linux's problem that devs are not releasing as many games for Linux as for Windows.
What's your experience?

Does anyone know if and how I can change the feather logo that appears when booting LL2.6. My users dislike it and would prefer something a bit less depressing.
