Cap lock turned on at boot up?
Posted by: Rapidrob - 07-31-2022, 09:23 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (2)

I just loaded a copy of LL latest version to my friends Asus UL80V laptop and now when booted-up, the cap lock in always turned on preventing a log in unless he notices this and turns this off. How can he permanently  turn off CAP-LOC at boot up? BIOS or other?
Thank you.

  Linux Lite 6.0 Insall
Posted by: geeksw - 07-31-2022, 03:13 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (2)

Hi;
I recently installed Linux Lite 6.0 from a live usb boot stick.  As I watch this thing boot, It would seem that the live usb boot did not install Linux Lite to the Hard drive, but rather installed a persistent "live" image to  my hard drive ( casper tries to check md5 sums on the iso image, I am getting boot time errors for hardware that I do not have (bluetooth, and hdmi port).  I am a bit pi$$ed off if what I suspect is true. Comments?

Openshot Video Editor won't open (launch)
Posted by: gb9130 - 07-29-2022, 07:23 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (3)

Installed LL6 on 2 laptops and installed Openshot via Lite Software app. Openshot appears in the Start Menu as Video Editor, but will not open. No error msg. Tried launching via mouse click on menu and via Start key + 'open'. Re-booted both systems. Same result. Any ideas? Gil Brand

actualizacion en la version 6.0 desaparce visor wifi
Posted by: Edmond Armisen - 07-29-2022, 01:49 PM - Forum: Spanish [Spanish] - Replies (1)

  LinuxLite 6.0 snap-free?
Posted by: Rosika - 07-29-2022, 11:44 AM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (7)

Hi all,  Smile

up till now I´ve been using Lubuntu as a resource-friendly OS. I´ve got 4 GB of RAM available; so I have to take that fact into account.
Yet it seems I cannot stay with this distro any longer when it finally reaches EOL next April.
Therefore I´m considering switching over to LinuxLiteWink

The reason is the following:

Ubuntu and its official derivatives force snaps onto the user (with version 22.04). I have cause to avoid them.

Looking on LinuxLite´s package list at https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distri....0#pkglist I wouldn´t find any of the snap related packages other Ubuntu derivatives are using, which seems pretty good to me.

However I still found those 3 entries having the keyword "snap" in them:

• gir1.2-snapd-1:amd64 1.60-0ubuntu1
• libsnapd-glib1:amd64 1.60-0ubuntu1
• libsnappy1v5:amd64 1.1.8-1build3

My question would be:

What would that entail?
In other words: Is LinuxLite 6.0 fluorite snap-free?  :Smile
It´s based on Ubuntu after all, right?

Thanks so much for your help in advance.

Many greetings
Rosika  :wave

  Bug Reports - How to
Posted by: valtam - 07-28-2022, 07:37 AM - Forum: Security & Bug Fixes - No Replies

The following is the correct format in which to present a Bug Report. Also, we'll give an example of what constitutes an actual Bug.

DO NOT use the Prefix 'BUG' or anything else when creating your Thread title. An Admin, Active Developer or a Moderator will do that once it has been confirmed.

Example of what a Bug is

A 'Bug' means that a piece of Software either produces an error, and or it is not working or functioning as it should.

Example: You click on Lite Software and the window does not load. If we were to run Lite Software in a Terminal, we would see something like:

This is a Bug because the software does not work properly.

What is NOT a Bug

Example: You install Linux Lite, and your graphics card is only displaying at 800 x 600 when you know it's capable of a better resolution. This is NOT a Bug. This example would belong in the Hardware section under Video Cards. Hardware not working is NOT a bug. This is something that can usually be resolved with a file edit, a newer or the correct driver, or a kernel or system update for example.

How to report a Bug

If software is not working as it should, run the program's executable command in a Terminal, then report the Terminal output using: [ code ] terminal output here [ / code ] (without the spaces).

Eg:

How do I find a programs executable command?

Example - Let's say we want to run the Text Editor, Mousepad. Open a Terminal, and most of the time the file name and executable will be the same.
Start typing the name of the software in lower case eg. mousep then press the Tab key on your keyboard. The file name should auto-complete.
