Hi Valtam,
I think it was some form of timing issue, network was "not actually ready" when mount was being initiated, not sure?
I also found another anomaly along the way with my Laptop/WiFi hardware, will post something in Hardware on that.

Hi Just an update....
Having now gone completely LL2 on all 3 PC's, I encountered the similar "
read only access" issues..
But this time it was connecting to shares
From Linux Lite
To Linux Lite.
Again Browsing via FM(Thunar) shows the folders/files but they are
R/O
((I do have the same
username/password on all 3 PC's))
The solution in my previous posts also works for this scenario, I have 2 standard shares on each LL2 machine.
Just a note re: the use of
ip addresses is not ideal....
but for whatever reason I'm unable to use "
share names", it gives an error "
unable to resolve"..??
Some Googling led me to adding
Code:
name resolve order = bcast host lmhosts wins
in to the
samba.conf file, this did not help, maybe it's for mixed Linux/Windows set-up's..??
I will keep looking....
Also,
being that this in the
rc.local I need to look at how to do this without errors if one of the other PC's is
Off
Unless any ones got a better solution/fix.??

No problem... It's all about sharing & learning.

Hopefully a final update,,
After some more research(Google)
I can now connect to Shares by
Machine Name, rather than I.P addresses.
Here's the summary:
First:
Code:
sudo apt-get install libnss-winbind winbind
Then:
Code:
gksu leafpad /etc/nsswitch.conf
Then change the line:
Code:
hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns
To this, added "
wins", apparently must be before dns:
Code:
hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] wins dns
Then re-boot
I have also left my edited "smb.conf" with the addition of
Code:
name resolve order = host wins bcast lmhosts
In the "global" section, just in case both are required.
