I downloaded Version 1.2 from this page http://bleachbit.sourceforge.net/download/linux and chose the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS file.
I've only tested the 'Wipe Free Space' feature so far, as that was the only section with which I had problems on the earlier version - so I can't yet advise on the 'Deep Scan' facility.

You're welcome and happy to hear you got it working :). If you learn anything new while testing/troubleshooting try to come back and update this post. I'm sure others will benefit from your information.

cool im downloading now from the link thank you, i have the exact same problem with it freezing up on wiping disc space so thanks a lot. the other issues are less important, although i have been trying to get my thumbnails to disable for awhile without having to use software like this with no luck, thunar doesnt show thumbnails but everything you see still gets put in the .thumbnail folders doesnt seem to be able to disable the folder itself.

How about exceptions?

On my system (LL108/64, Bleachbit 0.9.1) the software has two areas to limit scan locations:
BleachBit > Edit > Preferences > Drives Tab & Whitelist Tab

I'm thinking that maybe this feature can be used to narrow down the areas that are a problem and exclude them until they're fixed.

Also, have you posted any of your questions in the BleachBit forum?

hi scott, i will try both those things thanks :) so far i reinstalled the version mentioned and an performing a wipe to see if it freezes at the end this time or not.

thanks i did not know they even had a forum.

update: so far downloading that version did allow me to perform an overwrite. good post.  ;D

In Version 1.2 on my machine, everything is working except all the options within 'Deep Scan' which 'freeze'.

I saw this topic on the BleachBit Support Forum, it looks as though there is a problem.
