So yes, problem solved.  It was the encrypted partition. Once reformated and parted with ext4 and swap, installation was completed without any other issue.  Pretty obvious now  :Smile
I should have started my own thread instead of "hijacking" Pense-Malin's.  But our installation problems looked very much alike.
