Make desktop launchers executable by default?

Is there a way to make .desktop files executable by default? I like to drag web page links onto the desktop, and if possible would like to avoid having to convert each one to a trusted executable before I can launch it.

Not as far as I know. If you knew shell scripting, you could write a script that watches for files on the desktop, and makes them exec. Otherwise, request a feature here - https://www.bountysource.com/teams/xfce/issues
