I have been using OS now for about a week and so far I am very pleased with it.
Up to 8 months ago I was a Windows 7 user but like many I was getting tired of constantly having to check for viruses and defrag my system and the inevitable system crashes.
Since then I have tried a good number of different Linux OS including Ubuntu, Zorin 9,Mint 17.2 and others I cannot remember.
This Linux Lite must be perhaps the best one so far and similar to Zorin 9 in the way it opperates.
I really liked Linux Mint 17.2 but fancied something a bit lighter on my system.
AS I have said I have only been using it for about a week but it seems like I might keep this one for a while.

Welcome to the group.  You're in the right place.
I'm not much older at this than you are.  At the beginning, because I was coming from the world of MS Windows, I felt anti-virus was a must.  I looked into what to use.  Learned about clamav and its GUI, clamtk.  I played with them initially, but currently, I don't run them.  Going forward, if I feel I need a scan, I plan on using
www.virustotal.com or maybe Comodo Antivirus for Linux,
www.comodo.com.

Thanks to all of you for your warm welcomes.
As far as using an antivirus program on Linux goes I am starting to think as others do that it is not needed.
I only have Linux Lite installed on my hard drive and do not have Wine installed as there are no Windows programs I wish to use.
I have installed ClamAv but feel there is no need for even this program inside a Linux OS.
Next job is to remove Clam and run LL as it is.
Thank you all
John
