No guest account available on the login screen
Posted by: vdquynh - 09-03-2014, 05:42 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (6)

Hi,

I just made a fresh install of Linux Lite 2.0. I kept everything as default, with Linux Lite user's name = linuxlite.
I have tried adding a guest account like it is available in default installation of Ubuntu. After some search I finished by editing the file /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/40-lightdm-webkit-greeter.conf and changed the last line "allow-guest=false" to "allow-guest=true", so that the content of the file is as follows:

[SeatDefaults]
greeter-session=lightdm-webkit-greeter
user-session=xfce
autologin-user=linux
allow-guest=true

I saved the file and restarted the PC. However at the login screen I could not choose the guest account as only the linuxlite account is available for logging in.

How is it possible to have at the login screen the choice between the linuxlite default user account and the guest account?

Thanks.

  Time and Date Display
Posted by: learix - 09-02-2014, 07:20 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (9)

I don't even really know where to put this, but just did a fresh install of 2.0 from 1.0.4, anyway the time and date is showing up very strange as you can tell in the picture I have provided.

Any insight on this?

Error message on start up...no idea what it means or what to do
Posted by: Alex - 09-01-2014, 07:05 PM - Forum: Start up and Shutdown - Replies (8)

On start-up I get the following messages, they repeat if i restart:

and, it stayed at this a long time without further progress:

and.

I don't remember modifying anything...but who knows? Why doesn't the OS just fix the problem? If not what do I do?

Being used to Windows i ran a virus check:

They all seem to be associated with Wine:

I am really not sure if they have anything to do with the error message.

Thanks for your help Smile

  Taskbar won't stay auto hidden
Posted by: Monkeyman - 09-01-2014, 11:52 AM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (10)

I decided to bring this over from my introduction thread to see if I can't get some more help.

I installed Linux Lite 2.0 a few days ago.  I tried a couple other distros in the past with little success.  (I don't like the terminal.)  I'm having a couple issues with LL with the major one being the taskbar.  I like to auto hide it so I can see the entire window I'm working in.  The problem is that it won't stay auto hidden.  It'll stay auto hidden for anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours but eventually, it will stay hidden, no matter what I do.  I've tried as many different combinations of options within the panel preferences as there are with little luck.  If I reboot, I get the auto hide function working again.

At this point, I'm pretty well frustrated and ready to revert to Windows.  I hope someone can help me figure this out.

desktop rez changes/can't access taskbar after playing game w/Wine
Posted by: Monkeyman - 08-31-2014, 05:20 AM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (7)

I just installed Wine and was able to play a Windows (.exe file) game (nothing big).  When I exited the game, I found that the desktop resolution had changed (would have been good had I been 50 feet away Smile ) and I couldn't access the taskbar.  I had to reboot to get back to normal.  What would have caused this and how can I avoid it in the future?  I have a few things I'd like to run using Wine.

Thanks!
