After flirtations with other distros, Linux Help Guy has come back to Linux Lite for his daily machine, but using MX-14 and Debian on other machines. Quote: Hi all so I have settled on Linux Lite 2.2 for 2015 after a few issues with Ubuntu Mate Linux Lite has come to the rescue.

I kinda look at MX-14 as the Debian Stable version of Linux Lite.

Does anyone have information on how to get the KEYBOARD backlight working on this darn thing ?
I understand it is software driven. I had the idea of just wiring the leds to a 5v or 3.3v header on the
MB, but would prefer not to. I could just wire in a switch to turn it down with a resistor in line i guess
But a driver would be ideal. 8)

So I have decided that I wanted to use Google drive on all of my PC's, Linux, Windoze, and on my cell phones.
Guess what, there is no official package that actually works AND has a gui. what the hell? After doing some research
I found that Google has no plans to either, they have one developer, who cant get it right and thats it! Apparently
it has been all but abandoned. So I have been using the Web page for Google drive, which works, but isn't
a reliable mode to upload at the moment.(large files). So i think Dropbox will be my new "Cloud storage", I only use
Google drive for Linux ISO's, and files that are 100% legal to put it one way, LOL.
Does anyone have information on Google drive on Linux, or is it a lost cause? :-\

Hi,
I have shown a friend Linux Lite...
He wants me try it on his PC, Obviously I will try a Live Boot first.
I already know the PC's got a Intel based MOBO,
but with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 720 graphics card.
To avoid any issues,
I thought I would get a Heads Up on any possible issues.?
Will this be a case of using the install drivers option.
A quick Google led me to what appeared a straight forward install:
GeForce GT 720
Install Drivers
Code: sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-346 nvidia-settings
Remove Drivers:
Code: sudo apt-get install ppa-purge && sudo ppa-purge ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa
sudo apt-get remove nvidia-346
Thanks... Dave

Hi,
Googleearth runs flawlessly when running LL2 from a USB stick as a live CD via Unetbootin.
After physically installing LL2 to a USB stick and booting from it, video display is missing sections (blocks).
It seems GE picks a different video driver once installed on the stick. There does not seem to be an option of installing or changing to a different or updated driver via the Menu.
Has anyone experienced this and is there a fix. Other video related applications, like Youtube, DVD etc all play fine. Only GE has the missing blocks. This is happening on all three computers I have tried LL on. :'( Thanks.

| Whisker Menu updated for Linux Lite |

I've created new builds for our port of the Whisker Menu for Linux Lite.
New features:
- New translations.
- Recently used can now be configured on Behavior tab (minimum of 5 items).
- Edit Profile added to Behavior tab (installs Mugshot, click on the image next to your name at the top of the Menu to configure).
Logout and Login to see new version.

Mugshot:

Mugshot allows you to change your name and picture that appear on the Login screen. This will create a menu entry in Menu, Settings, About Me. This program is a dependency of whiskemenu and therefore cannot be removed without breaking your system. If you don't want it to show on your Menu, then just hide it in Main Menu (Menu, Settings, Main Menu, Settings, About Me - untick)
Do:
Code: sudo apt-get install whiskermenu
to get the new version of the Menu.
