Printer is detected fine. This printer has a phantom paper ham. I use it to scan only. I would like to use it to scan on LL, but do not see an option to scan. Pressing the scan button on the printer itself just makes the power button blink several times.

Hello friends...
I have an HP Touch Smart 520-1047C all in one computer. I am upgrading it with a Samsung SS drive and installing the largest amount of RAM I can - which is only 8 GBs. This all in one computer has no slot for a video card. It has an intel chip on the motherboard for video. I cant do anything about this.
Can I still install Linux-Lite (6.4) on it?
Many thanks,
mraroid

I have googled many times for fixes, but nothing seems to relate to my set-up and also there seems to be a fair posts here where people have slow PCs/laptops, but none seem to end with success.
I have always had old laptops at least five years old (usually rescued from firms throwing them out), so never expect lightning performance, but I do feel they're slower than running the contemporary version of Windows. I have been using Linux Lite since 3.8 2.8.
My current laptop, a Dell Lattitude E5430 ran Windows 10 with no issues at all. It has a 1,8 GHz two core processor and 16 GB of RAM and SSD harddrive, so I think that the fan shouldn't roar when I watch a Youtube video, nor should Evince take nearly a minute to open a PDF. Most applications seems take a noticeable moment to open. It is definitley slower than when it ran Windows 10 with 4 GB of RAM and a regular harddrive.
I cannot see anything in the System Monitor that is eating resources either.
According to inxi, this is my machine:

Howdy y'all,
Recently over the past 3 days when I check for updates for software and security I'm getting updates for printer drivers that I don't need. So I checked how the updater works on Ubuntu and what I found out is that on Ubuntu the user is able to check what updates they want in a check box and leave the updates they don't want. Why since Linux Lite is a fork of Ubuntu do we not have that same choice? There isn't any reason for me to have printer drivers I don't use on my machine taking up space, or other software I don't use getting updates because I don't have the option to not update them. Why is this not included?
Best regards,
|
