Love Linux Lite. Just wiped another XP machine and loaded LL. I am not sure if this Dell Vostro 220s has a wireless card or not. I do have ethernet. How can I find out if there is an internal card or not??

| Cron job to automate backup???? |

OK.....so I am trying to automate a weekly backup of my home folder. I did try the built in backup option in LL, but simply do not like the tons of zip files created during backup. I really only want mirror copies of the home folder on my NAS.
I installed grsync to setup the backup......and the backup works fine. I then created a backup.sh file to run the grsync backup session, made it executable, and tested it......it works fine as well.
Now I tried to add the script to a crontab job......this is where it all fails. I cannot get the file to run at all. I have tried MANY options.....I have added the path to the script to crontab.....tried adding the path in the script.......tried copying the script to the /bin folder.......tried standing on one foot while patting my head. I simply cannot get the file to launch using crontab. I have spent a number of hours looking up the correct formatting on google to get this right and it still fails to run.
I also tried installing gnome-scheduler to do this in a gui and it fails to run as well. Soooooo, what in the world am I missing to get this function to run automagically????
Any help would be great......thanks.

Greetings All
I've been testing Linux Lite for about 2 weeks and just finished installing it on my HTPC (what I'm typing on now). I've been exclusively using Linux for the past 18 months and still consider myself a Noob with Linux.
I started out with Ubuntu 14.04 and was amazed how well it worked (installed on 3 computers 1 laptop, 1 desktop and 1 HTPC) but after about 3 months got bored with the Unity desktop so off to Distrowatch I went. I quickly settled on Linux Mint Mate (the other OS on this dual boot HTPC). I've tested the top 20 on Distrowatch and always went back to Mint Mate but I'm always curious about other flavors, that is how I ended up here.
I like the looks of LL, and so far I've been able to do what I wanted with little effort, I prefer Firefox so to get Netflix and Amazon Prime video to work I had to do the Pipelight and user agent thing, but it works as expected.
Skype, Chrome with Hola extension, Wine, and Kaffeine all work as expected. Hiccups have been System monitor, Netspeed and weather, but I'll figure this out in time.
Anyways, I wanted to sign up and say "Hey All" and give props to the coders, Job well done.

| Re-install repository problems |

Greetings. Yesterday I decided to modify my notebook running 32-bit LL 2.6 so I could add a second set of partitions to do a bit of distro-hopping. I installed AntiX-15, but the grub bootloader got screwed up, likely due to an error I made while doing the install and I could not boot up LL.
So I re-installed LL 2.6 from a usb stick without formatting either the root or home partitions. It went OK until the installer could not re-install previously installed packages. When I went to use Lite Software I got an error message because certain repositories were not available (404 errors). I could get into the Synaptic PM and used it and the command line to do some of the re-installs, updates, and upgrades. However, the repository problem remained, keeping me from using the (I assume) scripts in the Control Center for Lite Software and Updates.
I did some research here on the forum and as a result went to Synaptic and unchecked these repositories:
http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/trusty main
http://dl.google.com/linux/talkplugin/deb/trusty main
http://repo.linuxliteos.com/linuxlite/trusty main
There was still a public key unavailable error for a fourth one, http://extras.ubuntu.com trusty, but now I could run Lite Software and Updates. So I'm back in business, but I am concerned about having to uncheck those repositories, especially the LL one on your website. They are for 32 bit machines. Is there something in my installation screwed up because I didn't reformat, or did some script get clobbered? Should I do a re-install again but format the root parition? Or is there a simpler fix?
Thanks for any insight you might have.
Best regards,
Andy

Hi,
Trying to finish off a build of a Intel NUC for a friend, not a lot of time due to work.
Anyway,
The NUC is "Dual Booting" LL2.8(with Kernel 4.2) & Win7 in legacy mode, after some hair pulling, and then finding out the BIOS is bugged.
I now want to add Linux Mint,
So that it "Triple Boots" but I remember reading LL grub does something special to make it easier to "Dual Boot" with Windows.
So I have to admit I'm not quite sure what will happen if I now install Linux Mint..??
Will I loose the Grub that currently shows LL & Win7, or will Mint just be added.??
Do I install it, and immediately run "Grub Repair", or run a LL "Live" and do something..??
Any pointers on how to do this would be appreciated.
Thanks...
