Update error - dpkg was interrupted
Posted by: nedu537 - 05-10-2023, 12:19 AM - Forum: Updates - Replies (1)

Hi.

I get the following message when trying to install updates:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem

I've tried to run this in the terminal but it won't allow me to do this and I get the following message:
dpkg: error: requested operation requires superuser privilege

Can you offer any assistance for this?

Thanks for your help:-)

The computer resets after Linux Lite installation
Posted by: Deckard - 05-09-2023, 03:18 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (2)

Hello,
I've installed Linux Lite 6.4 on a Lenovo Ideacentre AIO 520-24AST with an AMD A9-9420 APU.
I booted the live system from USB stick and installed the system, wiping the disk completely (there was Windows10 previously).
The installation went ok but at reboot the system resets itself at a certain point and it never gets to the desktop.
If I select "advanced options" from the boot menu and then "recovery mode" the boot process goes on; then if I just select "resume" from the Recovery Menu (even without any modification to the system) the boot process ends successfully and I get to the the desktop.

During the process I can read of an "ERROR: VGACON disables amdgpu kernel modesetting" so I suppose it's something related to the graphics interface (which is integrated in the CPU as far as I know).

I've been fiddling for a couple days trying to fix the problem but nothing worked so far.
Anybody can help?
Thanks

No Wi-Fi, getting disconnected after short time
Posted by: Lyfrost - 05-07-2023, 12:19 PM - Forum: Network - Replies (5)

Hello,
I have a laptop with dual boot win10/linuxlite 6.2 in it, it worked well for 4-5months now, but recently i've been experiencing frequent disconnections.
When linuxLite launches, i tap my password and i get on the desktop then the network connection appears where i must connect, if i click on the connect button it loops for a bit and then the connection window re-appears once more and it's like this forever. The only yhing that can get my wifi to work is by disabling and re-enabling my network and wifi, then i get to connect to my wifi but it only lasts for 15 seconds until the connection windows appears once more and i have no connection, and this scenario loops forever.

My Wi-Fi works well on win10 so it's not a hardware issue. Also i didn't change anything in the connection/network settings, it just stopped working out of nowhere.

Also what's more surprising is that i can connect to my Wi-Fi  if a share my Wi-Fi connection via my android phone, but it doesn't work if i connect directly to my wifi via my laptop...

Is there a way to reinitialise my network settings or maybe this is due to some recent update ?

  linux lite installation
Posted by: karlheinz - 05-04-2023, 08:07 AM - Forum: Deutsch [German] - No Replies

Hallo Forum Liteos.

  I'm Confused
Posted by: Daveyboy - 05-01-2023, 06:26 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (4)

I hate icons and work exclusively using the File Manager in either Compact or Detailed list view however, within the last 24 hours the display on my desktop has changed the colour of the folders and I haven't got a clue how or why this has happened. I have done a direct comparison of the settings on both my Desktop and Laptop which are both set up identically and list below the differences - obviously I would like to Desktop to mimic the Laptops display but am at a loss as to how to achieve this - is anyone able to assist please.

Settings on Both Machines are as follows :-  Appearance = Greybird, Icons=Papirus=Adapta & Windows Manager=Adapta

File Manager Home Screen
Compact List View on both machines = Black icons and/or folders
Detailed List View - Desktop as Compact List View - Laptop= Black icons on Light Blue/Turquoise folders

Folders
Compact List View on both machines = Black folders
Detailed List View - Desktop as Compact List View - Laptop= Light Blue/Turquoise folders

I would really like to get the desktop back to how it was displaying up until 24hrs ago - i.e. the same as the laptop and would appreciate any pointers that you can give me to achieve this please.

Many thanks

Encrypting in Linux and Decrypting in Windows
Posted by: torreydale - 05-01-2023, 04:45 PM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (1)

Does anyone know a way to encrypt or password protect a file in Linux Lite that will also allow a Windows user to decrypt the same file?  Whenever I create a password protected zip file using the archive manager app and I send it to a Windows user, they can't get to the point where they can even use the password to decrypt it.

I get notification about updates, number increase every day, but I can't dl them.

Also, I have 15 years old computer and some obscure hardware but it shouldn't be a problem, I suppose. Update was working until recently, I was on vacation for 7 days, pulled out power from computer.
