Hi,
I'm new to Linux and installed LL 5.6 on a 64 bit AMD 2 core 2.7GHz, 4Gb RAM, legacy BIOS PC on Monday. All seems good.
My apologies for asking about a problem in the previous version of this post regarding fonts, This had been plaguing me for days, but a solution has just occurred to me. My apologies for breaking any forum protocols; I'm new to this.
Is there a way to get rid of the disappearing scrollbars, please, (or a way to make them more visible) as I find them mildly confusing? I can't find a setting for this; I've also done a search for Animations.
Solutions would be most welcome. Although I'm experienced with Windows, please respond as to a beginner.
Ean.

Those of you opting for Brave browser may want to take a look at some relatively thorough and interesting commentary from this site. If you are offended by a little vulgar language do not let it discount the facts involved. The writer is very bright and informed, though he has a bit of an abnormal fixation about censorship and is vulgar at times on purpose, so it is not worth the bother to comment on his occasional vulgarity. He does hit upon most of the reasons of my own reticence about the Brave browser. I am preparing a reply to his commentary but it will be a few days before I put it all together. Many of the digital currency pioneers and entrepreneurs are nothing short of unethical hucksters, anarchists, and profligate millionaire gangsters. There is a dark lingering history of havoc in their rise to prominence.

Many thanks to the team who work on the forum, and for the support it provides.
I'm new to Linux and a Windows 10 user who has recently installed Linux Lite 5.6 on a 64 bit AMD 2 core 2.7GHz, 4Gb RAM, legacy BIOS PC. For the sake of caution, it's single boot. I have some Windows 7 PC's that people have given me, of very broadly similar specs to the above. These I've got working and upgraded(?) to Windows 10, and activated, but none will accept a Windows 11 installation. Also, Windows updates waste time and randomly delete restore points. Other problems are resource-wasting gimmicks and bloatware, and lack of privacy. In the longer term, I hope to use LL as my internet OS, and continue using Windows 10 for my offline PC.
Installation was easy. At first, on trying to update, an error message kept appearing. A reboot followed by a further update attempt solved the problem. First impressions are that LL works smoothly and well. Thing is, to keep using it and experiment a bit to get to know the OS. I'm a senior citizen, and not a fast learner, but LL is intuitive and may well do all I need. It's bundled with great apps; I already use VLC and Firefox, and Libre Writer seems straightforward. A challenge is learning and remembering Linux-specific terminology. Perhaps more of this could be added to the manual's glossary in the future?
Best wishes, Ean.

Hi!
Pretty sure this hardware is 32 bits only since every info points to this and the computer is limited to 2GB :58: They asked me to try and with some work, i was able to install Windows 10 32bits but only version 1507 (i.e. the 1st Windows 10).But... video and infrared cannot be configured since no drivers were ever made. (WinXP / Vista 32bits only).
Linux Lite 3.8 would be the last 32bits version to install, but even then, would the Intel GMA 915 work with a real driver or just the default?
I briefly looked but maybe there is a website listing hardware by last supported kernel?

Hello, I've been looking for instructions on how to properly set up drivers for Intel-based GPUs as I have not been able to get 3D graphics to work with them and I have not been able to find a clear answer anywhere. I'm still new to Linux but I've been learning a lot and I'm just looking to get my devices as functional as I can get them. Any advice? Or do games just not work at all with Intel drivers?

Hi everyone
I am quite fresh at Linux. I have dual boot win+Lin and two partitions: windows + programs and Linux installation along and another data partition. The problem is that Data partition is not visible in File manager. I can see windows and other programs, but data is not visible. In partition manager it says 1TB Data, unknown.
